The Ill. and Wis. Conference.
By T. M. Steward
I THINK we can truly say of this Conference that it was the best ever held in these States. Bro. J. N. Loughborough was able to be with us, and to assist in all our business sessions; and on Sabbath and first-day to preach one discourse each day, besides doing much talking, and answering a good many questions. We are glad to see that the Lord is doing a work for [him]. Our meetings throughout were marked with order, and deep interest. Our business sessions were perfectly harmonious. Our finances are encouraging, and our brethren manifest an interest in all the enterprises proposed to carry on this work, and fit us up for translation. Bro. L.'s discourses were instructive and encouraging. The congregation manifested sobriety, attention, and interest. At our last meeting, the tent was crowded. Probably seven or eight hundred out. Bro. Ingraham preached on the claims of the Sabbath.
