“BEING in the line of religious life does not make a man religious. Having a share in Christ's service doesn't make a man Christ-like. There is many a church sexton who had rather not be a door-keeper in the house of God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness on high wages. There have been deacons who defrauded, elders who embezzled, and stewards who stole.”
