Forgiveness

G. S. HONEYWELL
If we knew the weight of sorrow That is hidden in the heart When one humbly asks forgiveness, We should never say, “Depart,” While an angel moves the waters Where the trembling teardrops start.
It was not the mind of Jesus E’er to turn the least away, But he ever taught forgiveness, As he ever taught to pray, “Lord, forgive us our trespasses, E’en as we forgive alway.”
Ever heed the words of Jesus, In your heart keep open door, Quick apply the “balm of Gilead”— “Go in peace, and sin no more,” Then claim his forgiving mercy, And his matchless grace adore.
