For a Sunday Law in Oregon
For a Sunday Law in Oregon.— The Oregonian of November 5 tells us that Dr. G. L. Tufts is in Portland “to organize a movement for a Sunday rest law. He is the author of a similar law in Idaho.” The Oregonian further says: “The Sunday rest law, passed by the Oregon legislature, was declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Mr. Tufts is confident that the people of this state are favorable to the enactment of an amended law.” Mr. Tufts endeavored to secure a Sunday law for California in the last legislature, but failed. Dr. W. F. Crafts, the head of the “Reform” Bureau at Washington, turned Mr. Tufts down because he did not pay his tithe of the moneys collected to headquarters. It appears now that the matter has been fixed up. If Oregon is wise she will repudiate the Sunday law.
