Mother's Ways

Let mother have her old-time ways, And don't find fault with them; For childhood thought her ways the best. And they're as good as then.
The ways of love and tenderness Are never out of style; Remember this, and tell her so— Don't wait till after while.
Let not affection wane with years; It waneth not for you. Go, put your arms around her now, Kiss her as you used to do.
More than you know, her heart cries out And craves affection still. The same sweet mother love is there, Unchanged; it never will.
Life does not hold enough of years In which we can repay A mother's love; but do your best Before she goes away.
