The Church-School Board

THE school board has an important work to perform. The responsibility for the success or failure of the school rests to quite an extent with it. The members of the board should be God-fearing, devoted men and women. They should take a broad view of Christian education, recognizing the importance and proper balance of the physical, mental, and spiritual development of the pupils. They should discharge well the responsibility which rests upon them of making provision for proper and adequate facilities for the conduct of the school. The school board should be of tender sympathies, deeply concerned with all that pertains to the welfare of each individual pupil, and no less solicitous regarding the work of the teacher. They should be so broad-minded that they will be enabled to deal wisely with the difficulties, small and large, which arises in the school; and they should co-operate most heartily with the teacher in his arduous undertakings.
