Financial Stringency of Church Funds

SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS are not the only people who are called upon to meet deficits in church funds. The mission board of the Methodist Episcopal Church is now facing a deficit of nearly two hundred forty thousand dollars. Earnest appeals are being made through their church papers for the raising of this amount. The great foundation principle of the gospel of Christ is that of giving. God the Father gave his only begotten Son to die for a lost world; the Son gave himself for the same noble purpose. The plan of salvation is laid in sacrifice. As through God's gracious provision and the benevolence of his children the light of the gospel has come to us, so we are in turn made debtors to others to give to them the light of truth which we ourselves have received. Let us never tire of giving of our means to spread the blessed gospel. Let us rejoice that God affords us an opportunity to become co-laborers with him in this blessed sacrifice.
