Sacramento City.

On account of the severity of our labor for weeks past, in the office, we did not consider it prudent to give an appointment to speak at "the Mission" on Sunday evening, after the funeral services of the afternoon. But when the brethren and sisters were assembled, we complied with the request to make a few remarks. The regular appointment was for a Bible reading, the subject being the Third Angel’s Message. We therefore made this the subject of our discourse, and the Lord raised us above our infirmities, and gave us freedom in presenting the truth. All appeared to be strengthened and encouraged.
Much missionary work has been done in Sacramento during the past winter, which, we believe, will yet bear fruit. Not much can be seen at present, except that many are reading on the subject of present truth. We cannot think that this is labor lost. A foundation is laid, and circumstances will sometime arise when the Spirit of God will powerfully impress the truth which they have read upon many anxious hearts.
We were pleased to form an acquaintance with the believers there, though our stay was necessarily short. When the missionary laborers leave there, the meetings and Sabbath-school will fall largely upon the sisters. But they need not fear if they are only faithful. If they let their light shine, and move forward in duty, the Lord will add to their numbers, and raise up help. We exhort them never to lower the standard of the truth for the sake of numbers, or of getting earthly help; look to God, who knows your wants and cares for you.
