THE requirement that “any person unknown to the managers of this paper must send with his advertisement satisfactory recommendation,” has seemed grievous to some of our brethren, and they have sometimes expressed themselves plainly about it. We appreciate therefore the following view of the case as given in a recommendation by the superintendent of one of our mission fields: “I am glad to see you so careful regarding what you advertise in the columns of the REVIEW. . . . We feel safe under the care you are exercising in this respect.” It is for the good of the paper and its readers, and not for personal reasons, that a strict supervision is maintained over this Business Notice column.
