3770 — How Long Noah Preached
By E. E. M.
How do we know how long Noah preached before the Flood? We do not know positively from the Scripture, but it seems clearly to indicate that it was 120 years, for we read in the sixth chapter of Genesis the words of the Lord: “And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for that he also is flesh: yet shall his days be a hundred and twenty years;” and God gave the message to Noah to prepare an ark. It would seem that just as soon as this was said, the Lord had determined what to do. But He would not destroy men unarmed, and therefore He gave to Noah His message, and Noah must have begun to preach that message immediately. The clear inference is that it was a hundred and twenty years.
