Of the World's Decalogue

1. Thou shalt have one God only; who Would be at the expense of having two?

2. No graven images may be Worshipped—save in the currency.

3. Swear not at all; since for thy curse, Thine enemy is none the worse.

4. At church on Sunday to attend, Will help to keep the world thy friend.

5. Honor thy parents; that is, all From whom advancement may befall.

6. Thou shalt not kill; but need not strive Officiously to keep alive.

7. Adultery is never fit Or safe (for women) to commit.

8. Thou shalt not steal,—an empty feat, When, 'tis as lucrative to cheat.

9. Bear not false witness,—let the lie Have time on its own wings to fly.

10. Thou shalt not covet: but tradition Approves all forms of competition.
