Ye Cannot Serve God and Mammon.

“Did your friend buy the farm that he was looking at?” “No.” “Why not?” “Because he wants to get a farm and keep all his money!” This was a very short but forcible answer. It contained much truth. In buying, men often wish to get a good piece of property and yet keep most of their money. Generally they find it very hard to do this; yet by extortion they do often get things for less than they are worth. Some men are trying to gain Heaven in the same way in which this man wished to get a farm; i. e. have all the good of this world and have a home in Heaven too. But Christ says that this can never be done. “Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” You cannot have this world and the other too. D. M. CANRIGHT.
