But how often does the root of some cherished sin obstruct the free intercourse of the Spirit of God. And what a stinted crop is often returned to the Lord of the harvest. Christian brother, sister, beware lest thy heart be an accursed field. Sinner, the god of this world, or thine own selfishness, may lead thee to clear thy heart of that which by men is called morally wrong, but the roots of thy sins, like stumps of the pitch-pine, will not be broken as long as you live, and at last your field will be rejected, and yourself consigned to perdition. Flee to Jesus now. Delay may be fatal.
