PROSPECTUS

OF THE

SIGNS OF THE TIMES

FOR 1882.
THANKFUL for the blessing of God which has attended our efforts in the past, we commence the eighth volume of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES with increased confidence in its success. The favor with which it has been received, and the evidence of the good accomplished by it, fills our hearts with gratitude to Him under whose providence it was originated, and by whose favor it has been upheld.
The present editors will continue their labors for it, with such assistants as may be found necessary. The contributors who have so greatly added to its interest and usefulness in the past, are engaged to furnish articles for the future.
Every endeavor will be put forth to make it a first-class paper, both as to its contents and its moral tone. As it was from the first designed as a missionary paper, the wants of the mission work and missionary workers will especially be kept in view. Its variety of departments and wide range of subjects peculiarly fit it for this field.
The SIGNS OF THE TIMES has passed through its seventh volume and has not only proved to be of unusual interest to its thousands of readers, who are found in all parts of the world, but is approved wherever it is known as a reliable expositor of Scripture. Its contents will embrace the following

DEPARTMENTS:

EDITORIAL.—This will present our leading doctrines; discuss the questions of the day which are of present interest to the student of prophecy; examine passing events which may stand related to the prophecies as signs of our times; give answers to questions on Bible subjects, and articles on practical Christianity.
GENERAL ARTICLES.—This will embrace a wide variety of subjects, in articles both original and selected; practical, doctrinal, expository, and miscellaneous. Prominent among these we would make special mention of the series of articles on Bible history, found on the first page of each paper.
TEMPERANCE.—The SIGNS will always be an ardent advocate of temperance, from a Christian stand-point; advocating, not only abstinence from intoxicating drinks, but that Christian temperance which is worthy to be associated with the subjects of righteousness and Judgment to come.—Acts 24:25.
