Sabbath Song

In Eden’s pure and sacred shade The holy Sabbath day was given, The first highway divinely made To lead our souls from earth to heaven.
By Sinai’s high and holy hill We bowed before our Father’s face; We learned in peace to do his will And bind in one the human race.
The day was sanctified and blest With hymn and prayer and reverent praise, And truly made a day of rest, Like that of saints in endless days.
L. M. Cottrell.
