GUTHRIE.—At the invitation of the Oklahoma Conference, the writer and Elder M. G. Nunes, of the North Texas Conference, joined Elder Charles Lightner in conducting a series of meetings in this city.
From the first, the services were largely attended. The Lord was near at all times, and the speakers were given freedom in delivering the truths for this time. One remarkable feature was the continuance of the meetings without a single break. During severe rains the people came regularly to the tent rather than lose the connection. Our excellent music was an attractive feature. Let us thank God for songs that stir the hearts of men and women to take hold of this truth.
The ministers of Guthrie caused some opposition against us, but in the end we were able to answer their attacks from the Word of God, and the truth stood vindicated before all.
Our meetings began June 5 and closed July 12. Twenty-two persons took their stand on the side of God and his commandments, and are rejoicing in the hope of Christ’s soon coming. Many are in the valley of decision. We earnestly ask your prayers in behalf of the work here.
R. L. BRADFORD.
