Missionary Work Amid Persecution in Persia

F. F. OSTER writes from Persia that for one month he has been back in Maragha, the scene of former invasion by the Kurds. His wife and baby were still at Tabriz. Reports had come to him that “in Caucasia a whole village was massacred by the Moslems. Over in Urumiah a general massacre of Christians is reported to have taken place. The Kurds surrounded the large compounds of the American Mission, where ten thousand people had taken refuge, and demanded that they be given up or pay $40,000.” He then adds: “There are just two things which keep me here: first, my trust in a mighty God; second, my hope of winning some of these poor people to a better life. Nothing else would keep me here for a day under these circumstances.”
