THE announcement for the fourteenth year of Union College, Kenilworth, Cape Colony, South Africa, has been received. The trustees make the following statement concerning the aim of the institution: “This school was established, not merely to teach the sciences, but for the purpose of giving instruction in the great principles of God’s Word, and in the practical duties of every-day life. To this end opportunities are here given whereby students can be fitted for a useful life, and at the same time receive the proper education of the mind and heart.” The work of the institution is classified under four heads: Literary, Music, Industrial, and Home. Full information is given concerning the work offered in each department and the plan of conducting the same. Four members of the faculty are from America: C. H. Hayton, the principal; Mrs. Ruth Haskell Hayton, the matron; Miss Pearl West, the preceptress; and Mrs. Cora M. (Blodgett) Fortner, in charge of the Intermediate Department. A feature of the announcement is the prominence given to some appropriate quotations from the Scripture.
