ENCOURAGEMENT.

AT the meeting of the American Baptist Publication Society in Saratoga, Dr. Henson said: "If I have been in a measure successful, it is because I have been surrounded with men who gave me encouragement. Every man around me has had a ram's horn, and he blew. There's inspiration in it."
That is worthy to be considered. A church which will sit down and trust to the minister to do everything for them, while they enjoy an easy time, will go to sleep and perhaps never awake. We have known instances of a church accepting the services of a preacher and suffer him to labor under circumstances which could only be extremely trying to his feelings, without an effort to correct the wrong. But prosperity cannot dwell with them.
