Love’s Offering

WORTHIE HARRIS HOLDEN
'Tis passing wonderful that God, my King, Will own and bless my humble offering, That in his mercy he delights to own The simple gift I lay before his throne. Wonder, ye mighty through the universe, And his amazing attributes rehearse!
Love gave its all that sinners might not die, Love raised the cross that bore that gift on high; And for that ignominy, cross, and shame, What little tribute that I own his name! And shall I think an offering to bring That costs me nothing, to my glorious King?
Eternal ages only can possess The praise my raptured spirit would confess; Few are the mortal moments to declare, The gifts so trivial I may prepare. All that I am and have I give to thee, Author of love and life, to all eternity!
