ANOTHER HORROR.

THE steamboat Seawanahaka, which ran from Peck Slip, New York, up the Sound to Glen Cove, Long Island, June 28, took fire at 4.30 P. M., while off Randall's Island, in the East river. The pilot remained at his post till nearly burned to death, and succeeded in running the vessel on the beach. Many jumped overboard and were drowned, while many on the stern of the vessel could not get off, and were burned. There were on board about 500 passengers, among whom were many prominent citizens of New York, as it was an afternoon boat, touching at various places of resort, and in which some business men left the city for their homes. About fifty are said to be lost. Among the rescued was Charles A. Dana, editor of the New York Sun.
