The Use of Glycerin

A LEADING specialist, and authority on matters pertaining to the skin, says of glycerin: Glycerin is really very harmful to the skin; it evaporates the water in the pores rapidly, particularly; You will result in breaks of the skin, or chaps and roughness. This may be a surprise to many; for it is a fond belief that for chapped hands and lips it is an excellent remedy and preventive. Mixed with other ingredients so that a chemical change occurs in it, it may not be harmful, but glycerin, in a pure state, should never be applied to the skin, or its health and appearance will suffer, and cracks and chaps will be aggravated.—Selected.
