The Restraints of the Christian Life

By Congregationalist

The railings upon a bridge do not hinder you from making progress in every proper manner, and as rapidly as possible. They only hinder you from falling off at either side. No one in his senses ever objects to them. Like them are the restraints of the Christian life. These are no hindrances to your worthy and ennobling desires. They only check you when, either thoughtlessly or in temporary consent to temptation, you are about to endanger your spiritual safety.
