The Temperance “Instructor” for 1913

Up to February 18, 104,369 copies of the 1913 Temperance Instructor had been sent out. The State of California leads in the largest number ordered, it having ordered about 10,000 copies. Pennsylvania follows with about 9,000 copies, the most of these being from the West Pennsylvania Conference. Michigan stands third, with 4,800 copies, Tennessee following with 3,400 copies. Canada has sent in orders aggregating 4,285.
This new Temperance number is evidently meeting the expectations of our people, and making a favorable impression upon the temperance people generally who have had an opportunity to examine it. Letters of commendation from all classes have come to us. These often accompany an order for the Instructor. A professor in Yale University says it gives him pleasure to order 100 copies. One of our workers writes as follows:—
“I believe the 1913 Temperance Instructor is the best yet. For many years I have felt the lack of material in making up a temperance lecture; but in the new Temperance Instructor, you have given me material for a dozen lectures, and I consider it one of the best efforts our people have ever made in behalf of temperance.”
The following is a sample of the orders lately received from outside temperance organizations:—
“Our general treasurer informs me that he can secure the Temperance Annual of the Instructor at 4 cents each by lots of 50. I have a sample copy on my desk, and it is just the thing. Every one reads it. Enclosed please find a check for two dollars in payment for 50 copies of the 1913 annual.
“Will you also send me sample copy of other regular editions, and price for a subscription club of ten or more copies?”
We receive in every mail requests from strangers for sample copies and full information as to wholesale rates and methods of circulation. They are beginning to ask for details in connection with our methods of soliciting for the Instructor. They want to know how to sell papers. It is quite evident that the temperance people in all parts of the United States and Canada are becoming interested in, and friendly to, the Temperance Instructor. Our temperance-loving people should make good use of this favorable opportunity, not only to do a good work for the cause of temperance, but through it to advance our great work in connection with the third angel’s message.
Send all orders through the conference tract societies.
