“Lo, I Am With You Alway”

WORTHIE HARRIS HOLDEN
Sometimes, while standing on the rock, His glory passes by; Sometimes his presence floods my soul Though tears bedim my eye; Sometimes the fog, so damp and cold, Banks closely round my heart; But God, I know, is light and love, And ne’er from me will part.
Nor principalities nor powers Can sever from his love, Nor height nor depth can isolate From that great power above; And though so small, so weak, so vile, I naught on him impose By loving him who first loved me, And all my frailty knows.
Ah, when the night-winds shriek and howl, Know he is very nigh, Just as when glory-clouds reflect His shining in the sky: And when earth’s storms are overpassed,— Eternal morn awakes,— My Jesus still will be my all, Who never me forsakes.
