The W. C. T. U. and Sunday Legislation

At the recent National Convention of the Woman’s Christian Temperance Union, held at Omaha, Neb., the following resolution, without passing through committee, was introduced from floor by Mrs. Hollinshead, of Ohio, and passed without discussion:—
“We deplore the desecration of the holy sabbath, so prevalent now, and the lax enforcement of law. And we ask that our rest day be preserved and our sabbath law enforced.”
By passing such resolutions as this, however, this otherwise noble and worthy organization still commits itself to the unchristian principle of religious legislation and the union of church and state. W. A. C.
