A Genuine Christian Experience

A GENUINE Christian experience means a personal fellowship with a personal Christ. Sound doctrine is essential, but an assent to sound doctrine as a mere act of the mind apart from the acceptance of Christ to dwell in the heart by faith is altogether insufficient, and does not bring freedom from the bondage of sin. It is the privilege of every believer to be in communion with Jesus, the Son, and through him with his Father and our Father. “God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.” “That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” “Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.” The experience of the indwelling Christ is the heart and soul of true Christianity. Christ dwells within as the Lord our Righteousness. Christ dwells within as our Peace. Christ dwells within as the Truth and the Life. This is present salvation, and a salvation which will be eternally present. Thanks be unto God for such a Saviour.
