Faith's Song

ROBERT HARE
Autumn leaves are round us falling, Daydreams pass us by, Stars that kindled hide in darkness, Flowers that blossom die; And the visions that we cherished, Shattered, fall in pain,— Visions with their gilded heavens Never smile again!
Voices, hushed in darkened silence, Line the lonely way, Suns eclipse, which spread their glory O'er each passing day. Still a light divine is glowing, And some blossoms sweet, Weaving fragrance for to-morrow, Rise around our feet.
So faith walks this shaded pathway, With its home in sight, Grasps the Hand that rules in heaven, In the darkest night; Lingers by the cross uplifted Once on Calvary, Sings, “The Heart that suffered yonder, Ever cares for me.”
