Applied Christianity

APPLIED Christianity is the only kind which is of any value. A Christianity which is merely a matter of theory is of no account to anybody. There has been so much of this pretended Christianity, which is really no Christianity at all, that many have come to question whether there is anything more to the Christian religion than forms, ceremonies, and empty discussions. It is time that a different testimony should be borne, the testimony of the simple gospel of personal salvation from sin through the power of the indwelling life. The principles of the kingdom of this world have to a great degree taken the place of the principles of the kingdom of heaven in the daily experience of professed Christians. There are comparatively few who accept the principles taught by Christ as the practical rule of common life. Such a course would seem “extreme” to the majority of church members. And so the world sees but little difference between the great portion of those whose names are on the church books and the average worldling. And thus “the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles.” “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.” “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
