English Court Ruling on Religious School Taxes

The English Court of Appeals has rendered a decision to the effect that the present Education act does not authorize the appropriation of money out of the public rates for religious teaching, and that the local authorities are not obliged to raise funds for those purposes. According to this decision theso-called “passive resisters” were legally right in their refusal to pay taxes to be used in the support of religious teaching in the public schools.
