Modern Methodists Repudiate Old-Time Methodism

Old-time Methodism is being definitely repudiated by modern Methodists. At a Methodist ministers’ meeting in Chicago, December 29, the Rev. Coburn delivered a sweeping condemnation of the Methodism of Wesley’s time, declaring that it could not be applied to modern conditions. The old Methodist hymns were declared to be altogether out of date. By a rising vote the pastors present expressed almost unanimous preference for the “new Methodism.”
