The Mental Arithmetic

By PROF. E. A. SUTHERLAND, is Unexcelled for Use in Home and Church Schools
THIS work is published, not because there is a dearth of mental arithmetics, but because there is a recognized demand for text-books upon this subject which are practical and adapted to the needs of the children and youth. In imparting a knowledge of the simple branches of arithmetic, the author gives practical examples in astronomy, botany, physiology, natural history, carpentry, masonry, farming, etc. No examples referring to traffic in liquor, tobacco, tea, coffee, drugs, etc., are to be found in the book.

An Advance Move

I have had the pleasure of examining your “Mental Arithmetic for Home and Church Schools,” and do not hesitate to say that, to my mind, it represents a distinct and important advance in the method of teaching arithmetic.
DR. J. H. KELLOGG.

More Than Mere Theory

I am happy to say that I am greatly pleased with the “Mental Arithmetic for Home and Church Schools,” and shall work for its introduction wherever I may be. I believe that the publication of such books will do more for Christian education than any amount of theorizing.
PROF. C. C. LEWIS.
