BIBLE REST.

Rest from the world, how sweet! From noise of rushing feet, From striving hands of selfishness and sin: Rest from the ceaseless war Of States and sects ajar, Truth drowned by falsehood in perpetual din.
Rest for the weary thought, Which knows not whom it ought, Still lured astray, to follow or to shun; Rest for the struggling will, Battling its inward ill With fruitless toil, forevermore begun.
Rest for the wounded heart! In grief it hugs apart, Ungues sed by all,—by mortal eyes unseen! Rest for the hungering soul! Now hath she reached her goal, God's Heaven on earth,—Eternal and Serene.
