Items of Thought.

We believe that the last message of the gospel is being proclaimed in truth; because, first, signs and prophecies fulfilled prove that it is time that it should be given, and, second, because it is being preached. It is impossible that the time should come and the promised message appear; and it is also impossible for the message to be preached before the time.

Faith is a heavenly plant. It does not grow naturally in the sinful, human heart; therefore it must be cultivated. Hence the danger of entertaining the doubts and cavils of skepticism and infidelity. Since it is written that the believer shall be saved and the unbeliever be condemned, it is certain that our danger is in doubting the revelations of the word of God rather than in believing them. R.
