ONWARD

By N. H. Pierce

N. H. PIERCE.

Our motto is onward and upward, There's no time for lagging just now; No time and no use to look backward When once we take hold of the plough.

What grand and what noble achievements May lie within reach of us all, If by faithful, unflinching endeavor We rise to respond to the call.

To those who are fearful and doubting And ready to yield to despair, Who are only hopeful in sunshine When everything looks bright and fair,

We offer a brotherly greeting And urge you to press bravely on; How soon you will find that the lion That lies in the pathway is gone.

Oh! then let us join in the harvest, Our energy each day renew; Success will soon crown our labors If we are but earnest and true.
