TO THE BRETHREN IN MAINE.
By J. B. Goodrich
We now have two tents running in this State, and it will take means to support the laborers and pay running expenses. Nearly all in our churches where we have visited the past winter have voted to carry out the tithing principle and give one-tenth of all their income to support the cause. We invite all of our scattered brethren and sisters to adopt the same system, and send in their tithes to the State treasurer, Samuel F. Grant, Hartland, Maine. “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase; so shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” Prov. 3:9, 10. Let all the Sabbath-keepers in the State take hold and lift together, and the work will move forward; but if some are inclined to murmur and find fault, and do not come up to the work, the Lord will excuse them, and raise up others to take their places. The message must and will go forward, because the work is of God. The commandments of God and faith of Jesus will triumph without me, but I cannot triumph without them. May the Lord help us to realize the sacredness of this work, and never yield to the temptations of Satan. The Lord says, Go forward. J. B. GOODRICH.
