Sunday-Closing Act Succeeds in Ireland

—The Sunday-Closing Act in Ireland has proved thus far a most gratifying success. Five principal cities, namely, Dublin, Belfast, Cork, Limerick and Waterford, were exempted from its provisions. Notwithstanding these exemptions, the falling off in arrests has been remarkable. In 1877 the number of arrests was 110,903; in 1880 (under the prevalence of the Act) the number was 88,048.
