TO THE MEMBERS OF THE NEW ENGLAND TRACT SOCIETY
By S. N. HASKELL
TO THE MEMBERS OF THE NEW ENGLAND TRACT SOCIETY.
At our next quarterly meeting (see appointment), it is expected there will be a report from every member of the society. The design of this society is to help forward present truth, not by fits and starts, but to make gradual systematic advancement in the work. The object of our quarterly sessions is not merely to hear of the number of tracts circulated, subscribers obtained for our periodicals, and sick families visited, which is an important part, but to counsel together, that our effort may be united, and all the steps taken be owned and approved of God. Therefore let none be discouraged, if you can do but little. Remember it is the many littles that make the large amount, and the whole of Christian life is made up of littles, and those that perform the little Christian duties faithfully and prayerfully, will find in the end they have not lived in vain. Neither let any be discouraged if some suggestions for improvement may be made in their manner of operations. The report of labor may be made after the following plan: - Number of tracts circulated.
- Their value as a whole.
- Number of subscribers obtained for each of our periodicals.
- Number of families visited, and any incidents of general interest that may be related.
Much prayer and great humility are needed in this work.
