The Millennium and the Second Advent.

WHEN we were publishing at Saratoga Springs, N. Y., as early as the year 1850, we received a call from a Presbyterian minister who had been appointed to visit every family in a certain portion of that city. He inquired, “What business do you follow?” We replied that we were a minister of the gospel and a publisher. After examining our publications, and learning that we were laboring to turn men and women to the observance of the seventh-day Sabbath, he remarked, “Well, sir, you have undertaken a herculean task to turn the world over to the seventh day.” We replied that we had not undertaken to convert the world to the Sabbath.
But, what was he doing? He and his brethren had undertaken to convert the world, and bring about the millennium. A herculean task, truly. Twenty-seven years have passed since that visit and conversation. We have lived to see twenty thousand turned over to the Sabbath. The wheels of Sabbath reform have moved forward gloriously, while the world-conversion car has rolled backwards. The result shows the feebleness of error and the power of divine truth. May God still speed on the good work. J. W.
