This Week's Paper.

The present number of the SIGNS OF THE TIMES will find its way into more than two hundred families where previous numbers have never been sent, and during the month just past twelve hundred new subscribers have been received at this Office. To these new readers we wish to say that it is, and ever will be, the aim of those who conduct the SIGNS to fill its columns with the most interesting and instructive moral and religious reading matter that can be found.
As will be seen at first glance, we admit no advertisements which are so commonly seen even in religious papers, and put in their place articles which cannot fail, if properly read and studied, to throw light upon the Scriptures, and cause them to shine forth in all their clearness and strength.
We call special attention to the articles which are appearing from week to week upon the first and second pages of the paper. Those on the first page, from the pen of Mrs. E. G. White, are written in a style which will interest all, and are full of new ideas concerning the life and mission of Christ. They should be read with care.
Those on the second page, under the title, "The Biblical Institute," by Elder Uriah Smith, are doctrinal in their nature, and will contain a brief synopsis of what we as Seventh-day Adventists believe. These articles could be read and re-read to great profit. Several have already appeared in the SIGNS and if any are desirous of obtaining them they can do so by sending to this Office.
The editorial pages will speak for themselves when read. The sixth and seventh pages contain matter which is well suited to the wants of the home circle. The two stories on the sixth page will do any one good who reads them, being suited to all ages, and calculated to better prepare them to bear the duties and responsibilities of life. The news items also are selected with great care from numerous exchanges and deserve a careful reading.
We are glad to see that the SIGNS' circle of acquaintances is so rapidly enlarging, and we trust that wherever it goes it will make strong and lasting friends to the truths which it advocates. M. M. W.
