Fresno County, Cal.

I ARRIVED at Bro. Church’s on sixth-day morning, the 8th. Had an appointment sent out for Fairview for that evening, where we had a good full meeting.
Sabbath morning I preached in Mendocino settlement where Bro. Wood has held his last course of meetings. Spoke on the fourth commandment, after which we had an excellent social meeting, a goodly number being present from Fairview. On presenting the covenant six arose as signers. Spoke there also on First-day morning when three more signed the covenant, making nine in that place.
Evenings of both days I spoke in Fairview; Sunday evening on baptism. Monday morning, the 11th, we met at the water side at 10 o’clock, when fourteen were baptized. This was a blessed baptismal season. The Lord met with us, indeed. There were of all ages, from ten to sixty-two years, among the baptized.
There was but little religious influence in this neighborhood when Bro. Wood first visited it. But now it is almost entirely converted. Several who were confirmed infidels are now rejoicing in God in the present truth.
The three following evenings I spoke in Fairview, giving an outline of the health reform and the doctrine of the promise of the Spirit, after which I returned to Mendocino settlement to meet some questions on which they needed help there.
Bro. Wood held meetings in Kingsburg, a small village on the Rail Road, 20 miles above Fresno, but could get no one to move out on the truth. Hoping that something might yet be done there we had an appointment there on First-day afternoon, but found no interest to hear.
Have sent an appointment to Visalia for next Sabbath, and am visiting a few localities with Bro. Wood to find a suitable opening for him to commence another series of meetings.
The present truth has done a good work in Fresno County; all our meetings (except the one at Kingsburg) have been most encouraging. We ask the prayers of all that the Lord will guide and direct in our future labors.
