Trust in God and Do the Right.
By E. T. Bedee
YES; why not? The Lord has promised to save those that put their trust in Him, Ps. 37: 40, and to be a stronghold in the day of trouble. "Well," says one, "I would like to do right. I would like to keep the Sabbath of the fourth commandment, but it would cause so much trouble and division in my family." Ah! but stop, my dear reader! Whose fault is it that there is division? Certainly it is not with those that keep God's commandments. No blame can be attached to those that do right. Do you say that you cannot observe the seventh day of the week, because you could not get a living? Perhaps your employer would discharge you, and then where would your daily bread come from? Oh, the short-sightedness of mortal man! What! can we be excused from keeping God's holy law on any pretext whatever? My brother, could you bring such an excuse before the bar of God, in the day of Judgment? Oh, be entreated to trust not in such a sandy foundation! It is the father of lies that brings doubts, darkness, and magnifies the difficulties. Trust in God. Stand for the right. He that seeth the sparrows fall, will he not take care of you? May God help both reader and writer to so keep God's law that we "may have right to the tree of life; and may enter in through the gates into the city." "Courage, brother! do not stumble,
Though thy path is dark as night,
There is a star to guide the humble;
Trust in God and do the right."
