What our Subscribers Say.
The following is from a sister in Missouri:— “EDITORS SIGNS OF THE TIMES:—Almost one year ago Bro. — sent my name to you and I paid for the paper for six months, and you have kindly sent it to me ever since. I feel a deep interest in the cause; but my husband bitterly opposes me on account of my determination to follow the commandments of God, rather than of men. He will not allow me the means to pay for the paper, so I have deprived myself of some of the luxuries of life in order to send you one dollar, and as soon as I can get the other two dollars will send it to you. My prayer to God is to bless you and your great work of warning to the world.” It is always a pleasure for us to continue the paper to those who are interested in its teachings and are in the circumstances indicated by the following from sister S. J. D. of this State:— “I must tell you how thankful I am for the SIGNS OF THE TIMES, which I have received since April, 1875, by the kindness of Elder D. M. Canright. I was at that time very sick. He visited me and convinced me of the Sabbath, and I have been keeping it ever since. I read the paper with great interest, and am now trying to keep all the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. My mother and oldest brother are also keeping the Sabbath and I hope soon will accept the whole truth.” “I cannot tell you how thankful I am for the paper, but I cannot pay for it as I am an invalid and dependent on my friends, my mother is a widow. You can do as you think best about continuing it. I cannot ask it to be continued though it would be very hard to part with it for it has been the means of giving me light on present truth.” The following is from sister A. C. Burdoin of Daviess Co., Mo.:— “I find that after paying the quarterly s. b. for myself and two young children, I have enough to send the SIGNS to another precious soul. I have received good news from the copy which I have been sending to some friends. They like it very much, and I trust it and the tracts I send to them and others there may open the way for a minister to go and preach there. They read the paper and then compare its teachings with the Bible. I sow the seed and water it with tears and send prayers after it so anxious am I to see the truth run and be glorified.” “For two months and a half we have had from one to three sick all the time and it is very expensive, but I will give the Lord one-tenth of all my little income, although I practice some self-denial to do so. When I do deny self I feel blessed. But I feel that the most effective work is in living this truth every day. My missionary work had to stop, but to-day, I start over the field to see if any of the precious seed has begun to grow.”
