The Signs and Its Readers.

The Signs has now completed one-half of its second volume; it has made you twenty-four of its forty-eight weekly visits for this year, and it is encouraging to know that its publication is not without results. Some write that they have been converted to the observance of the Sabbath and a belief in the soon appearing of our Lord by reading it alone, and many others report that friends have been interested and are earnestly investigating the truths it teaches.
We mean that the Signs shall advocate a pure religion and sustain a high standard of truth and duty, and that it shall also be a home paper with news and matters of interest for old and young. Particularly would we make it a medium of communication for our brethren on the Pacific Coast. The field is broad and our ministers are called mostly to new fields. Let bits of religious news, letters of encouragement, and reports of progress pass freely from church to church, to take the place, as far as possible, of the living preacher. The reports of meetings, of addition or loss in numbers, or the result of Bible-class investigations of the prophecy will be of interest to other churches. The columns of the Signs will ever be open to all such communications that are of general interest.
The article on the first page of this paper is the first of two, giving Jeremiah’s experience in testifying against the wicked king of Judah and his false prophets, relating his cruel imprisonment, and their final destruction. The subject of the atonement as taken up by Elder Wagoner in last week’s paper will open a vast field for study. Each paper containing these articles should be read, then given to friends.
