San Francisco.

The cause of “present truth” is making some advancement in San Francisco. Our meetings there last Sabbath, and First-day evening, were well attended, notwithstanding the unfavorable weather. New ones are becoming interested and bear their testimony in the social meetings.
The work of canvassing the cities of San Francisco and Oakland to obtain subscribers for the SIGNS OF THE TIMES, is progressing well. Last Sunday evening one brother handed in ten names with $20.00, another five names, at $2.00 and $3.00 a year. These names they had obtained in one-half of a rainy day, by using the “Household Manual” as a premium. A sister also gave us ten new subscribers. In Oakland the same work is being carried on, and the subscribers are coming in.
Brethren and Sisters of California, let us all arouse, now, and take hold of this work of canvassing to extend the circulation of the SIGNS. It is just what the people need to instruct them in the great truths of God’s Word. Now is our favored opportunity to work. Shall we do it and be indeed “fellow-helpers to the truth?” 3 John 8, or, like Meroz, shall we sit still when there is opportunity to do valiantly for the Lord, and receive, instead of a blessing, the curse of the Lord against Meroz? “Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the Lord, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty.” Judges 5:23.
Will those who wish to canvass for the SIGNS send immediately for “Manuals?”
