Following the reading of this report, were interesting remarks by Eld. White, stating that California, and especially Oakland and San Francisco, were large fields for missionary work; and that there were those who were not overburdened with other duties who could engage in this work.
A preamble and resolution was presented by Bro. F. J. Otis, which had been adopted by Dist. No. 8, requesting advice from the General Conference Committee relative to furnishing, at the expense of each district, tract distributors, similar to the one used in the R. R. station at Rome, N. Y., and described in Review, Vol. 49, No. 8.
Moved and supported, That the subject be referred to the General Conference Committee.
Following this resolution remarks were made relative to the SIGNS OF THE TIMES, how to increase its circulation, etc. It was added that it required hard work, and hard thinking to issue a paper like the SIGNS, and we Californians ought to do something in proportion to what the Eastern brethren are doing, in soliciting subscribers. With an exhortation to be awake to this matter, the meeting adjourned to Monday at 9 A. M.

SECOND SESSION, APRIL 2, 9 A. M.

After dwelling upon the manner of doing missionary business it was
Voted, That the Directors be requested to publish 1000 copies of a tract, giving brief instructions to missionary officers and workers, concerning the manner of doing T. and M. business.
Adjourned to call of the Chair.
J. N. Loughborough, Pres. A. M. Loughborough, Sec'y.
