“Not Going to Keep Your Sabbath”

“I AM not going to keep your Sabbath day,” said a woman to me. I replied: “The Sabbath day is not mine. It is the Lord’s; for He said, ‘The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.’ It was not I, but the Lord, who said, ‘Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.’ Therefore you had better tell the Lord to-night, in your prayer, that you are not going to keep His Sabbath day.” When I saw her again, at the next service, she said: “I could not tell the Lord, to His face, that I would not keep His Sabbath day. I thought of His great love to me; and that night, alone with God, I settled the question. His love changed my heart; and now, by His grace, I am going to keep His Sabbath day according to the commandment.”
