Will Not Fail to Deliver

SHALL we put trust for deliverance in the armies of the nations? The child of God is not pointed to this source for deliverance, although it may sometimes please the Lord to use an army to deliver His people from trouble.
The psalmist wrote: “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.” “The Lord hear thee in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend thee; send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion.” Ps. 20: 7, 8, 1, 2.
The mighty God of Jacob is above armed forces of earth. He is not dependent upon the arm of flesh. Jacob was safer alone, that night of wrestling by the brook, than was his brother Esau surrounded by his band of horsemen with spears and weapons of war.
Some trust in horses, David said, but he the rather chose to “remember the name of the Lord” as his refuge. T. E. BOWEN.
