God Forgives and Forgets

“God says, ‘For Mine own sake will I do it.’ God is on trial. When the records are looked over at last, if it could be seen that a single sin that was confessed was not forgiven, the Lord would stand condemned. So He blots out sin for His own sake. And then He says He blots it out of His memory. He will remember our sins no more.
“I often hear people say, ‘Yes, I forgive you, but I can’t forget.’ That is no forgiveness at all. God forgives, and He forgets. He blots our sins out of His memory. He remembers them no more. I am glad to know that the Lord can look on us and forget that we are sinners; for He looks on us through Christ’s righteousness, and forgets everything that is wrong in us.”
