Come Unto Me for Rest

The invitation of the Saviour is: “Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Matt. 11:28. Did you ever notice that in this call no office hours are specified? Then you may come to Him on His busiest day, at any hour, in light or darkness, and receive rest from the burden of sin, also from the clog of hindrances in your Christian life. Rest is peace. It matters not what circumstances attend your course, He can and will speak peace to your soul. When Peter denied Him before His face, no frenzied words were returned, not even a single mild word of reproof — only a sorrowing look. Those who haunted Him to death had no excited threat bestowed on them. His last legacy to all was, “My peace.” Come then at once and receive it in fulness. J. O. C.
